Pros
Products and design field are incredibly interesting and very fulfilling to participate in. You will be at the forefront of laser technology, and have a positive impact on the world. Work-life balance and schedule flexibility are quite good. Employees have the opportunity to work across disciplines and learn.
Cons
Since the Aquisition of legacy Coherent Inc by II-VI, the management of the company as a whole has been abysmal. No pay increases since merger and no new published pay ranges. Multiple rounds of layoffs and many more have quit since. Executive team offers no indication whatsoever that they care about employees' wellbeing and livelihoods and only make decisions that benefit the CEO and/or shareholders. There is no upward mobility, and benefits are bottom of the barrel. HR is extremely complacent and unsupportive. Team morale and culture have been spiraling downward since the merger with no change in sight. I would NOT recommend working for this company.
