Pros

You get to work with some cool software tools for SEO and such.

Cons

You never get paid on time, emailing accounting to resolve payment issues takes weeks if not months. Information and communication is very minimal, and they keep writers very isolated from each other and restrict your ability to comment and post in general spaces. I think a larger underlying problem as far as the work itself goes is that editors have far too much power under the current structure. If you're a writer, your editor basically decides 95% of what happens to you. The person that hired you, your content manager, etc. they have way less say over your workload and whether you get to keep pieces or not. Instead of treating editing like a perfectly normal and necessary part of any writing project, the editors here act like any edit they make is an enormous burden to them, and if you've written a sentence that doesn't quite work, or you've skimmed over something that needs more fleshing out, they're doing you a massive favor by pointing it out. Writers and editors need to work together collaboratively and respectfully, and this is really missing from Codeless' current structure.

Pros

Exposure to interesting projects: Codeless offered the opportunity to work on a variety of SaaS topics, which helped me expand my expertise in the field and gain valuable writing experience. Supportive team environment: The team was generally friendly and collaborative, and I felt like my input was valued in brainstorming sessions and content discussions. Learning opportunities: The role provided chances to learn more about SaaS products and the latest industry trends, which kept the work engaging.

Cons

Irregular pay: Unfortunately, the most significant challenge during my time at Codeless was the irregular pay structure. Payments were inconsistent, making it difficult to rely on the position as a steady income source. Lack of job stability: While the projects were interesting, the lack of financial consistency made it hard to feel secure in the role long-term.
