Pros

We still have some of the best training of all metro-Atlanta police departments. I am comfortable and confident in most my co-workers abilities in high stress situations due to the training they have received.

Cons

County management has been lacking in the past few years, putting us in a budget deficit. We have been furloughed, insurance costs have risen, and we pay more into our retirement each year. Its rare when an employee is promoted or transferred to a specialized unit on ability, not because of relationships with superiors. Most transfers and promotions have stopped, which means employees are stuck where they are at for, most likely, several years. Its rare that you see upper "brass" keep employees up to date and squash rumors.

Pros

Medical, dental, vision insurance. Take home car. County clinic. Ample amount of part times

Cons

Terrible retirement. The pay and benefits does not match to the amount of work. Definitely overworked and underpaid. Lack of support, unrealistic expectations and lack of professional growth.
