Pros

The main point of this review is to talk about how CoStar Toronto has transitioned all of there employees to a work from home environment during the wake of Covid-19. I pretty much only have one thing to say...you as a company did an AMAZING job making this happen so smoothly and quickly. In the wake of Covid-19, Costar's main and primary objective was to make sure their employees were safe and healthy. With that being said, CoStar went out and bought thousands of laptops in a matter of days to equip all employees with the necessary tools to be efficient and productive at home. These laptops arrived for every employee in under a week. Not only did CoStar provide all employees with laptops but they are also in the process of sending us monitors to make work from home even easier and efficient! Furthermore, CoStar has set up Softwares like Microsoft teams and Avaya One so we all remain in contact and able to perform team tasks. At the start we were having some speed issues with the laptops, however, CoStar's IT department worked endless hours to fix this problem within one week. GREAT JOB COSTAR. With all of that being said, I find that I am just as productive working from home as I have been in the office! Last, but definitely not least, I want to give a big shout out to all the directors/managers. All of them have not only been checking in on us daily to see how work is going but they are also checking in to see how our mental health is holding up. Being in self-isolation is tough, but CoStar managers/directors have been amazing. They have set up various support systems and even offer online yoga classes at lunch. Thank you, everyone!

Cons

Computers were a little slow at the start and some connectivity issues between laptops and monitors.

CoStar Group Response

First, thank you for being part of CoStar Group. We work with an amazing team of people, and their safety -- your safety -- is always the priority. Our goal was to quickly roll out for every employee all the technology and tools needed to safely work from home and stay connected to your team, while still delivering the services, tools, and value our clients need to run their businesses. We're so glad to hear this was your experience. We are lucky to have steady, thoughtful executive and senior leadership (with founder/CEO Andy Florance at the helm) who have been meeting and monitoring the covid-19 situation daily, following all guidelines from the CDC and state/local governments. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We will be sure to share your feedback with leadership, particularly IT, HR, and of course, the exec team. We're glad to have you, and we look forward to seeing you back in the office (only when it is safe to do so, of course).

Cons

Working at CoStar Group was one of the most emotionally exhausting sales environments I’ve experienced. The culture on my team was extremely male-dominated, hyper-competitive, and very much “sink or swim.” Collaboration was talked about constantly by management, but in reality the environment rewarded internal competition, territorial behavior, favoritism, and politics over actual teamwork. As one of the few women on the sales team, I often felt isolated and unsupported. Instead of mentorship or coaching, the expectation was basically: “figure it out yourself.” New hires were thrown into difficult situations with inconsistent training and unrealistic expectations, while certain reps appeared to receive stronger books of business, better territories, or more support than others. It created resentment and a toxic atmosphere where coworkers often felt more like competitors waiting for you to fail than teammates. The turnover was incredibly high, which should have been a red flag. Management pushed aggressive quotas and nonstop pressure while failing to address morale, burnout, or fairness concerns. There was also an unhealthy obsession with leaderboard culture and internal politics that made the workplace feel stressful every single day. What disappointed me most was that I genuinely believed in the product and enjoyed helping clients. Many customers loved working with me, and I built strong relationships. But internally, the environment became mentally draining. The constant competitiveness, lack of support, and toxic culture eventually outweighed the positives of the role.
