Pros

It's pretty slow most of the day so you can check your phone and such

Cons

Even though I was a sales associate, I was by myself every shift. It was incredibly difficult to get ahold of the owners and the store was falling a part

Pros

Everyone is so nice here. The one-person-per-shift approach leaves the employees to their own devices in making the store great. Essentially, the quality of the store and the customer experience relies on who is on staff. If someone has an issue, it is usually because the employee is not doing their job. Being able to be in charge of making sure the best product is on shelf, that everything is stocked and rotated, and everything is clean and tidy gives a sense of accomplishment. If things are not done well, you know it is because you did not do your job. I also love the one-on-one I get with the customers, and many recurring customers are amazing! (although in customer service, you always get the few who are terrors)

Cons

The cons here are that it is difficult to hire good employees, although they offer a wonderful wage ($10 an hour to stock/clean/take payment is awesome compared to the many of minimum wage jobs with a much greater workload that I've had). The job is what each individual makes it. The manager tells them exactly how everything is supposed to be and then many people ignore those rules. I have come in numerous mornings with the store a mess, and I know that the person for the shift before did nothing but sit at the computer. As with any store, prices are constantly changing and it is difficult to keep up with the changes. If there is any other con, its that the owners expect too much of the manager because there are rarely employees willing to do the extra work. Just because there is no one standing there watching over their shoulder, nothing gets done.

Pros

Good selection for such a small space. You get to learn a lot about natural pet care if you take initiative on that.

Cons

Store manager(s) need to be trained on basic management skills: they don't know how to train staff, motivate or make clear policies. The store is very disorganized, pricing not clear on many items, items go out of date because products are not rotated. Merchandising is horrible, just too many items piled in. Shelving looks as if it may crumble any minute. There is no appreciation for work done but plenty of complaints if something is perceived as incorrect even though communication and instruction can be lacking.
