Pros
- My biggest pro is probably just that as an intern I was treated as any member of the team. Working on the same stories, being invited and participating in design meetings, as well as receiving the same feedback in the form of quarterly performance reviews. Honestly I think it really helped me grow as a software developer overall and I really appreciate that. - Great team. I found that all of the members of my team were super friendly and actually pretty cool, it was nice that they invited the interns out to their boardgames / rock climbing / etc activities. - Excellent onboarding process. Probably partially due to the growth that their products (software) team has had in the last year or so, onboarding a lot of fulltime jr and sr developers as well as interns has streamlined their onboarding to be quite solid. - The company has recently had to do company-wide working from home (WFH) because of an office move, which meant that during the COVID-19 distancing times the company moved to WFH very efficiently
Cons
I guess one con would be the technology stack having the bulk of the application in Java, not a huge con but I know a lot of people don't love working in Java. However I did get the opportunity to work on the frontend in VueJS, as well as some other parts of the project in Javascript, Golang, etc.
