Pros

If you have a heart for helping 16-20 year old troublesome boys, there are many opportunities to impact their lives here if you take your own creative approach. They provide vehicles for transporting residents. You can work overnights or days depending on your schedule preference and there's WIFI if you work overnights. Meals are provided if you work during lunch or dinner (you cook). A lot of freedom/free time to choose how/who you want to spend it with. Activities can be a lot of fun. (Taking residents to the movies/bowling/fishing, etc)

Cons

The manager tends to bring his home-life to work, resulting in emotional and unpredictable encounters. This can be a pro when he is in a good mood. I'd personally rather have consistency and professionalism. Coworkers - are sometimes as immature and damaged as the residents you are trying to help. (Not all, as some staff are great and want to help) Low Hourly Wage. Low number of residents = layoffs. Must have thick skin - Residents will berate you and attempt to break you. The "Independent Living Skills" training packets that are supposed to prepare the young men for graduation (and independent living) are completely outdated and useless. Most of the residents know this and therefore hate going to mandatory "groups" because of this.

Pros

Students were great to work with.

Cons

HR is disrespectful and rude. Administration is not there for staff, leaving a lot of disappointment and burnout among staff. There is no positive feedback about anything. Do not work here if you want to feel appreciated.
