Pros

Hard working coworkers, but all burnt out. Benefits are so-so.

Cons

Insufferable, micromanaging, abusive, myopic owner and boss. All of the problems of a small company with few redeemable qualities. Everyone hits burnout barely months into the job. Little to no training at the start and eventual blame for mistakes because of it. Abusive and factory-like culture of overwork. Employees are not empowered to make decisions or think creatively, and eventually just stop trying. Only 7-10 days vacation, and only 1/2 federal holidays off (!). No recovery days off given for long travel. Very little respect for employee opinions and requests; employees feel afraid to speak up. STAY AWAY. The job looks good on paper but reality hits hard and fast, and your mental health is the first thing to go...

Pros

They offer an exciting and challenging work environment creating meaningful concert tours all over the world for major symphony orchestras, youth orchestras and top choirs. They incorporate meaningful cultural experiences into each individualized tour and often we travel with them to facilitate the fine details and see all our hard work in action. They have a fantastic team that support each other and work well together on joint projects and pitch in when needed so everyone succeeds. They offer health care and flexible benefits, 401K options and more.

Cons

Depending on the time of year you join the team, it can be a challenge to jump into the middle of a project and get up to speed. During our peak tour season you are juggling multiple projects at a time. However, with experience that gets easier to manage your workload throughout the year.

Pros

This is a very rewarding career that combines our love of music, travel and business. Our responsibilities include challenging and rewarding work arranging concert tours around the world including cultural diplomacy, exchanges and outreach in over 145 countries. We are proud of what we accomplish and are fulfilled in ways we would not be elsewhere. There are travel opportunities around the world through concert tours, development tours and staff retreats. There are opportunities for professional growth (personally promoted from Administrative Assistant to Executive Assistant to Business Manager to Business Director to VP in 13 years). We are highly compensated with salary increases, bonuses, travel around the world and many other ways. We have a generous owner and boss who works harder than anyone, mentors all of the staff, cares deeply about her employees and values our opinions. I highly respect and care for the owner and my colleagues. There is a core group of 5 of us have been at Classical Movements over 12 years. We love our jobs and we are loyal and committed to the company. This is a glowing testament especially in the current work climate where people come and go hoping around companies every 1 to 2 years and have no long term goals. The benefits are more flexible than any other company outside of written policy.

Cons

In the beginning of employment, there can be stress during the peak touring season but it becomes more manageable with experience. Peak touring season is in May, June and July which makes for a short summer but on the other hand the November, December and January holiday seasons and not busy and we are able to take ample time off to be with family and friends.
