Pros

Clarkston has been my home for almost five years now - and the elements that stand out about the firm are still the same as the reasons I joined. The firm's focus on professional development, nurturing its stewards and allowing opportunities for individuals to grow at Clarkston are resounding pros for the firm.

Cons

Due to the travel-based nature of the firm, it is more difficult to preserve a semblance of an office outside of Clarkston target areas - Atlanta, RDU, Jersey. For those staffed outside of those areas, company meetings (twice a year) tend to be the recurring opportunity to interact with coworkers not immediately staffed on your project.

Pros

One of the things that stands out about Clarkston is the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects while continuing to grow your skills. You get to build on your existing expertise, but you're also encouraged to branch out through training programs and new project opportunities that help expand your experience. The culture is another big differentiator. Clarkston places a strong emphasis on collaboration, mentorship, and professional development. Because it's a smaller firm than many of the large consulting companies, employees tend to have more visibility, easier access to leadership, and the chance to take on meaningful responsibility earlier in their careers. Work-life balance is also something Clarkston genuinely values, and you can see that reflected in how long people stay with the firm. It's common to find employees who have been there for years or even decades, which says a lot about the culture. It's a refreshing change from the "up-or-out" environment that's often associated with larger consulting firms.

Cons

Sometimes projects can require long days and travel, but that's true of most consulting jobs.

Pros

- Friendly and supportive work environment - Great opportunities for career coaching and mentorship - Large enough to work with interesting companies and clients, but small enough to earn responsibility quickly - Excellent continued committment to DEI initiatives - Flatter-feeling organizational hierarchy - as a Consultant it is very easy to connect with Partners and managers for insights or a friendly chat! - Able to work remotely outside of client travel (which tends to be fairly limited post-Covid) - Many opportunities to build skills outside of projects, i.e., on internal initiatives

Cons

- Compensation is lower than some other consulting firms, but this also comes with better work-life balance.
