Pros

*Note that depending on where you start, the way services are provided at different locations and the experiences gained therefore may differ. For me, the opportunity to solidify my availability was my number one factor in taking on this position. You don't have to be full time to move up to Shift Lead! The added responsibilities I have gladly welcomed since Citrin has made it a smooth process getting the required training for my new role. Hours are very flexible with great starting pay and growth opportunities! And sometimes on Valets, customers may even tip you! Plus: - On-site orientation and training gets you through the ropes quite effectively, and there are plenty of resources available on the Team Site for references and additional aids! - Citrin has been highly observant of COVID-19 mitigations and on-site training procedures to keep everyone in the work and Valet environment safe! - The higher leadership is very understanding, inspiring, and easy to talk to/contact if you have any questions or concerns - GREAT WORK GETS NOTICED! If you genuinely show a passion to do well and strive everyday day on shift to be proactive and focused on your duties as either a Citrin Valet/Lot Tech/Hospitality Ambassador/etc. your efforts will not go unnoticed! My particular experience has been one of positive growth, which includes ups and downs. However, this led me to my promotion to Citrin Shift Lead in just 2 months! - I consider a dynamically changing environment a Pro because it keeps things fresh and interesting. I believe that is the best part of the job because as long as you have the right attitude and intentions for the job, it can definitely keep you motivated and inspired to do well and endure through the changes. PEOPLE WILL NOTICE! - If you love being around cars, talking about cars, and driving cars, then this is the job to have! Of course you should apply for the locations you desire (if you have dealership opportunities in your area to choose from when applying), but I will say that often enough you get to meet great customers, staff, and management with cool cars and sometimes have nice little conversations with them that can make your day and may even provide career growth/networking opportunities! All in all, a great experience so far with its fair bit of challenges, but equal amounts of worthwhile triumphs to be had; you can find many ways to strengthen your life skills here! If one goes in with a great mentality, motivation, and intention to genuinely do good for the sake of it and aspire to embrace Citrin's messages of being Innovative, Dependable, Tailored, and Focused, you will find yourself looking forward to coming in to work as I have.

Cons

Please take some time in reading each of my points because I am genuinely providing meaningful insight on "cons" that may prove truly valuable to your job decisions: One initial and clear Con is pay growth opportunity. In my position and location, there is not much difference between Shift Lead and Lot Tech/Valet pay. I believe the difference should be slightly greater due to the added responsibility a Shift Lead has over a Valet/Lot Tech/Hospitality Ambassador with keeping in closer touch with the managers, inspecting automobiles for defects from Dealership Truck Deliveries, keeping track of the Valet Scheduler, and in general just being the Leader of the Citrin Team at the location when on shift. However, again, this is from my particular experience, and may vary by location! Here are some other "cons" to look out for if they are not preferable to you: - You are constantly moving! Now, not a Con for me, but if you are the type of person who normally prefers a more stationary role, you'll find that in Dealership positions, you'll EASILY hit 15k steps on a shift, and then some! Its a great workout though! - If you have trouble adapting to changes, before you consider this a Con, think about how it could make you grow and improve first. I know not everyone enjoys change, but it is a fact of life, and I believe this is the best opportunity to "train" you to adapt and embrace change! - Winter can be tough if being out in the cold is not what you prefer, but as long as you are prepped, your time inside vs outside is about a 90:10 split in my experience, unless the day requires more Lot work (ex. moving cars and re-organizing them) - Slow time (when Service or Sales is not busy, at least for Dealership roles) can be slightly frustrating, especially if it was busy beforehand and then suddenly everything slows down. If you find it difficult figuring out what to do during slow time, always ask your Shift Lead or the management staff for ideas. We exist to provide not just Hospitality for the customers, but also for the Dealership! - Citrin Staff changes might affect your hours sometimes, though this is true of most other jobs, especially due to COVID-19 at the time of this review! (Will definitely stabilize as we see improvements in the battle against the virus.) There really isn't significant Cons I can reasonably mention. Most factors like specific language use for tasks, expectations from the client/customers, and general handling of interactions can be easily learned and mastered with good intent and constant communication with your team and management. There may be more of this than you would usually find in other jobs since this position covers the ENTIRETY of the Dealership grounds, but it's just that more effective at teaching you the skills to do so!

Pros

Fun Opportunity to move up Freedom in leadership

Cons

Pay is called "guaranteed minimum". This is purposely confusing to take advantage of younger people who aren't aware of what they're getting into. From my experience, next to nobody who gets the job understands this or was adequately informed about this in their interview. Every dollar you earn in tips must be reported--usual. The catch is cash and credit card tips you earn WILL BE TAKEN AND USED BY THE COMPANY to pay your 15/hr paycheck. This means if you work 10 hours and made $100 in tips, your paycheck will be $50. Even if you do really good one hour, your tips end up in a weekly pool and that pool pays your salary for the week. To put it as simply as I can: you only earn tips in this job if you have earned OVER 15/hr in tips spanning ALL THE HOURS on your pay period. (ex. 156 in tips earned on 10 hours: take home is $6 in tips. They tell you that you get your tips--which *technically* you do--but the only way you receive them is in the form of your actual paycheck. I have worked at Citrin for nearly a year and have never earned more than 15/hr in tips over a pay period--this means I have never once received ACTUAL tips doing a job infamous for tips. In a place where patrons assume the workers get the tips--not the company--it is beyond disheartening to watch people tip a company for my hard work.
