Pros

Pay is competitive, growing company, full medical, good place to gain experience. Good place to gain experience and turn into a better job. CEO is very personable. Minimal free snacks in kitchen. Free lunch once a week.

Cons

Have been at CitizenNet just under six months, and seen entire teams leave for other companies. Turnover is vey high even with competitive pay as employees are very stressed by the job. Company is growing (slowly), but current employees don't see any benefits from this. Not much opportunity to grow within company. Management team are great people to have a beer with, but not work for. Employees often get caught in difficult situations that could have been avoided by better organization, or setting expectations for clients. Employees are often on edge about making mistakes, difficulty getting help from development team, or fulfilling difficult last second client requests because we don't set expectations of whats reasonable. No formal performance reviews, very easy to get lost in the shuffle and feel you are on a treadmill. No real human resources department leads to many problems for employees that are not addressed. No dental or 401k, not a problem for me but is for others,

Thanks for your review, and I completely understand your point of view. Having managed clients in the early days of the company myself, I know that these situations come up and can be stressful to deal with. What you pointed out is a very big focus for me and the company as a whole - in fact one of only two topline initiatives for the product is to streamline operations. We recently rolled out such a product with our biggest client that reduces a half days worth of work to 10 minutes. More importantly, it establishes how we work with our clients as it all flows through our software, and the self service nature minimizes the extemporaneous requests. This takes time to develop, but there are things we can do to accelerate the process, such as team-based product liaisons to pinpoint areas that can be most streamlined. I appreciate hanging in there as this process continues. I also want to ensure that employees do feel benefits of our growth, and would love to hear direct feedback or ideas to make sure they feel rewarded in it and participate in our success. In the last year, we’ve rolled out a lot of new company perks as a thank you to our hardworking team members, including bonus plans in the last quarter for all account team members including ad ops. Of course, there’s always more to do, and I’ll want to see us add to the offering regularly. Lastly, we recently hired a HR consultant to help us be better structured today and make sure we’re handling all employee needs correctly. There is a lot to account for when growing, and I’ll admit we need the help! Thank you again for the feedback. As always, I’m happy to chat with you directly if you want to come and find me.

Pros

CitizenNet acts like a start up in a lot of ways, even after they were acquired by Conde Nast (which is a testament to the strength of their current business and long term vision). My primary role is in business development, but they've encouraged me to contribute to the marketing team as it is a career path I'm considering. There is also an incredible culture there. One of my favorite cultural dimensions is around learning. Management has set up weekly Java script trainings that are open to the whole company - even those of us on the business side, they have a budget to help employees get to conferences and trainings that interest them, and they have multiple weekly meetings where folks can share what they've learned or challenges they are facing.

Cons

I love the rec area with table tennis and pool tables. We don't get to use that room as often as I had imagined - maybe we can start to host monthly lunch and learns there or pool/table tennis tournaments! Also, it's so interesting some of the Conde Nast brands sit across the hall. I'd love to learn more about what they do and if we can partner with them in other ways, but not sure how to approach this.
