Don't Work Here - Assistant Manager Chuck E. Cheese Employee Review

This isn't a place to work if you want a real job. You will start out at minimum wage working part time (less than 30 hours per week) and will remain that way. Some people don't get promoted from this for years, and if you do get a promotion to a "black shirt" then the raise is only $0.25 more per hour if I remember correctly. You will never work more than the 30 hours per week unless you become a manager, which moves your limit to 40 hours a week because they don't want you getting full time hours so they don't have to give you any benefits. The pay is still pretty low. There are entry level jobs that pay more than I was being paid there as an assistant manager in charge of closing. You aren't going to learn any new skills here either except how to fix the ticket and coin jams in the games, neither being relevant to working at a modern arcade since nowadays they should be using card systems so that its all digital. You're going to be dealing with a lot of upset parents because their food will take too long to get to them and be far too expensive, and all of the games are going to be jammed up or nonfunctional in some other way. They refused to upgrade to a card system and still use tokens to start the games, so that is going to take up most of your time if you work the floor. You will give the parents free tokens so maybe they don't leave a bad review and then try to unjam whatever the kids stuffed into the token mechanism on the game. You may also have to clean feces out of the sky tubes. Luckily I always managed to avoid being the one that had to do that but I have seen it happen on more than one occasion. Even though it was probably the easiest job I have ever had skill wise, it was easily the worst environment. The majority of the employees were still in high school or have already dropped out of school, with most being 16 and 17 years old. No one cared about doing their jobs and were either fighting in front of kids, hiding in the break room to avoid work, or having sex in the room with the Chuck E costume. Almost no one ever gets fired either because they are too afraid of having to deal with people wanting unemployment. Instead they just begin cutting you out of the schedule until you are only working a few hours per week and quit because it's not worth the money in gas to continue going there. You will almost definitely have to wear the Chuck E suit if you are a male, sometimes but less often if you are a female, and do his dances. The suit isn't actually cleaned very often no matter what the managers tell you. Females will usually be hosting parties instead but aren't allowed to take tips. The managers stamp the check with a big red "NO TIPPING" stamp before giving it to you to bring out. If you take a tip make sure it is discrete enough that a manager doesnt have to call attention to it. You will also have to deal with satisfaction surveys and can get "talked to" if the scores aren't almost perfect. You may or may not get a short break, but if you do you will not be allowed to leave the building "for safety reasons". Don't even get me started on working the kitchen. Most of the food is frozen and the employees use shortcuts on everything. They aren't going to measure the ingrediants or even use gloves most of the time. They will pick things off the floor and use them and I have even seen an employee sticking his entire hand in the marinara sauce tub... If you return a pizza because it is missing a topping, they will throw the topping on the same pizza you sent back and just run it half way through the oven again. Most of the dishes aren't washed properly either. It's not somewhere you want to work if you have any morales or respect for yourself.
