Pros

The co-workers were very nice.

Cons

The lawyers were very negative. Any time something went wrong, the assistant was immediately blamed. They don't like self -confident employees who stand up for themselves and co-workers.

Pros

Let me just start off by saying I was hired through an agency. When my agent first called me to interview, I refused several times. I did NOT want to work at a law firm!!! I’d heard so many negative stereotypes about working for lawyers and I wasn’t going to be the one who went in every day and lived with that stuff. My agent convinced me to go for the interview and I was surprised to have more than 1 interview for my role, 2 of them with lawyers. To my surprise, they were very friendly and the interviews were easy with lots of laughing. Not at all what I expected! I ended up taking the job and staying here for over 5 years. The firm is pretty badass about giving their clients the highest quality everything, whether it's work, presentation, timelines, etc. Their office parties are the best! Management mingles with everyone, no matter what your job is.

Cons

These are not “cons” so much as they're more growing points, I think. If you have a certain time slot that you work, whether it’s 8:30 – 4:30 or 9-5, you had better be in on time. The firm places a LOT of importance on reliability and punctuality. Management is extremely particular about the quality of your work. They will tolerate initial and small mistakes as part of the learning process. But they are not happy at all if mistakes continue, and that will be cause enough to let someone go. You have to be able to hit that sweet spot between working well with minimum supervision and balancing that with a sudden fast flow where work is needed asap. If you are a “go with the flow” type of person, you might find this easy. It took me a while because I like to have everything organized and set up the way I like it. And to have to suddenly jump onto something with next to no notice was not something I was comfortable with at the beginning. Well, this not only became much easier to do as time went along, but I think it enhanced a lot of my own work habits.
