Pros

The ability to work with the students and parents is the best part. It is rewarding to see children actually graps, retain, and apply what you've taught them. Also, the parents show so much genuine appreciation and express gratitude through compliments, gifts, encourgement, etc. It really means alot when you begin to wonder if you're being effective and/or if your hard work is being recognized. Employees really cared about each other, and offered a helping hand whenever they were able. Pretty good food options for students and also effectively catered to allergies and parents' preferences. Also, they offer pretty good insurance plans and 401k.

Cons

I did not enjoy my exprience at the particular school I worked for. Employee morale was very low, and the school had high teacher turnover. Everyone seemed to have the same concerns. Primarily that they do not feel supported by administration and were often thrown under the bus to cover their own faults. Secondly,o there was a significant lack of communication. Teachers were hardly properly informed of important occurrences, school/classroom changes, important policies/procedures, or upcoming events, etc. This often left teachers feeling incompetent, inadequate, and led to them always being criticized or penalized for things that they were not even informed of. Also, admisnistration overw as they often prefered to sit in the office all day and give directives versus assisting teachers when they needed it most. The rarely recognized employees for good things. They also seemed more concerned with enrolling a vast amount of students to obtain the money, rather than ensuring that current students were progressing and receiving quality learning expriences. They often neglected the fact that we were always short staffed, which often put our ratios of proportion, and resulted in teachers being overworked and overwhelmed. Also, was not fond of the Links to Learning Curriculum where all learning/activities for the week was based on the designated book of the week. Most of the books were not interesting to the children. Also, the activities that are pre-planned offers no flexibility or creativity for teachers. Certain things were prohibited on the walls, supplies were very scarce, and classroom equipment was very outdated.
