Pros

People, benefits, location. Can't think of anything else anymore.

Cons

They kept adding more duties with less resources. No extra time given. Vacant positions would not be filled, just work distributed. They would send whole departments home and my department would have to do their work and ours.

Pros

- On site cafe that would make you pretty much whatever you asked for if they had the ingredients and even walk it to your desk. - Better training than many places I have worked. - As a part of Deluxe Corp, Checks Unlimited treats it's employees well. The benefits are good, the management is okay, they were tolerant of diversity within their workforce. - Pay for performance bonuses were good. I did fairly well, and there were old-timers there who were making an enviably large chunk of change on top of their wages. - My manager was a decent human being. - Nice building with ample parking.

Cons

- The job is basically scamming old folks except just within the letter of the law. The sales tactics, while presumably legal, are very unethical and sketchy. - You have to go home every day with the understanding that you make a living legally swindling old folks into buying overpriced checks or protection plans they don't need, then tacking on a litany of fees. - The software used has issues. You fill forms all day, but there are fields that cannot be cycled between using ALT+TAB meaning frustration every time you try. - I get the feeling that Deluxe understands that checks are a dying industry and is just trying to squeeze what it can out of their remaining customers with aggressive and unethical tactics. I'm glad they're still respecting their employees while doing so, but I didn't feel great about being a part of it.
