Pros

I’ve had the pleasure of working at Charitybuzz since the spring of 2017. In my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to wear many different hats, including account management, business development, and customer service. It’s a relatively small office and given the nature of the work, you will have to collaborate across different teams and departments to get most things done. Everyone in the office takes the commitment to charity seriously and strives to execute their work. Given the fact that it's a fairly small team, being able to work autonomously is critical. Especially on the business development side. There just isn’t that much hand holding and the on-boarding and training period was fairly short. In the near 3 years that I’ve been here, a lot has changed and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Cons

At first I definitely encountered some challenges, having transitioned from a large, publicly traded tech company. Charitybuzz is a much smaller company, and as such, has more limited resources. This isn’t a net negative per se, it just means that the leadership has to be very careful and thoughtful before committing to new initiatives and can’t pilot too many new ideas at once. There is definitely a commitment at the senior level to innovating and trying new things though and I’ve felt like my ideas and suggestions are taken seriously.

Pros

If you like being treated with borderline-uncomfortable levels of respect, kindness, and trust — this is the place. My commission structure? Generous. My PTO? Unlimited. My workload? Somehow heavy and joyful. They said “sell with heart,” and then actually let me — no micromanaging, just trust and a Slack emoji react. When I hit my first quarterly goal, my manager sent me a bonus and a copy of The Art of the Deal. I cried. Once I casually mentioned my kid was starting preschool and got a Slack DM asking if I had a 529 set up. A week later, $4K showed up “just to get a head start.” The CEO made eye contact with me on Zoom. My soul has not recovered. The vibes? Immaculate. The Slack banter? Elite. The people? Emotionally intelligent overachievers who will make you feel like you’re the main character and the intern.

Cons

I now expect all meetings to start with “any personal wins this week?” and for my coworkers to ask how my heart is, not just my pipeline. Leaving was like stepping out of a Nancy Meyers movie and into a fluorescent-lit spreadsheet nightmare.

Pros

Meaningful Impact: Charitybuzz offers the rare opportunity to do work that truly matters. Every project is tied to helping nonprofits raise critical funds, which makes the day-to-day feel purposeful and rewarding. Creative and Exciting Industry: Working at the intersection of philanthropy and entertainment meant being exposed to celebrity-driven campaigns, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and innovative partnerships. It’s a niche space that feels dynamic and inspiring. Tight-Knit Team: There’s a strong sense of camaraderie among the staff. The team was passionate, mission-aligned, and supportive, which made even the tough days manageable.

Cons

Outdated Internal Tools: The internal systems, particularly the CRM and reporting tools, often felt outdated or inefficient. This occasionally made campaign execution and data analysis more cumbersome than necessary, and highlighted a need for greater investment in operational tech to better support the team’s efforts.
