1. Nearly everyone seems to be oveworked. While working from home, I literally have no time in between meetings or priority work. I have had to pee in bottles.
2. Agressive goals compound work. This is a toxic work culture because there is no strategy to better manage more work
e.g. depriorizing when everything is a priority. This causes staff to work during meetings and be only half-engaged in both the meeting and the work.
3. Unreal expectations of using new tools at their full capacity, achieving changing goals (new or more aggressive), and pivoting to accommodate ideas that are not planned out well enough or with enough lead time.
4. Difficult to recruit despite fair pay and benefits due to A. Location. Oak Brook may be a trek for some. B. Remote inflexibility. For the most part, the company is inflexible on their long-term hybrid work plan. Employees must work at headquarters in Oak Brook. 3 days a week in-office, 2 days remote. C. Slow-moving about hiring decisions.
5. People disappear without notice or communication kind of like a mysterious Boogeyman. This should be a red flag.
