Good benefits, poor structure - Associate Center for Global Development Employee Review

Pros

They offer great benefits by American standards. 30 days PTO a year, summer Fridays (every 2 weeks), and office closure between Christmas and New Years are nice. The professional development stipend is generous, albeit HR is cracking down on what it can be used for.

Cons

Lack of direction from an institutional and program perspective make the organization seem like a circus at times. Management clearly caters to the senior staff. The associate staff are treated like second class citizens and the pathway to more senior positions is very limited. Raises are laughable with the cost of living in the area. The mandatory 3 days a week in the office is unnecessary and clearly by design of the president's preference for in-person work. Despite denying that they monitor employee movement in the office, they clearly do.

Pros

Great associate staff, education development stipend, interesting people to learn from and receive mentorship

Cons

The pay is very low, sometimes it doesn't feel like you're making a difference but that's also really hard to gauge/do in international development
