Pros
- People here outside of C-level without aspirations of becoming an unbearable middle manager on an ego trip are the best people you will ever work with, there are plenty of friendships that have formed here and continued past shared employment. - I can't say it was always horrible here! The years before acquisition were full of innovation and great spirit, rip. - That's it lol
Cons
Masters of deception! Not only did they hit loyal, talented, and driven IC employees with the uno reverse card upon acquisition, but they also lied to investors and clients about product capabilities and continue to do so at every turn. This creates an endless backlog of flimsy band-aid solutions, always at extra cost to the client (lol!). Be wary of any positive review that pops up within a few days of a negative one; it can be assumed to be from marketing or HR. They have made great efforts to try and get negative reviews taken down from here before, but it appears they've turned to new methods ;). Let's address some points left in the previous review: "Constant change (if you don't thrive in change)" - The direction of the company and product is as confused as a rabid animal running in circles and snapping at anything it perceives to be alive, including its own tail. It changes direction every few months when it doesn't deliver immediate results based off ill-conceived strategies. - The product that pays the bills hasn't been updated in 5+ years, and the new one could be described as being based entirely on vibes, with not a single coherent thought behind it. "Intensity (if you would prefer to be bored)" - My favorite quote was at the 2022 All-Hands: "If you aren't doing 110% of your job description, you shouldn't be here." -People haven't seen raises in years, are getting paid below competitive market rates, and are worked into the ground until burnout, then threatened with PIPs without any proof! - Everyone here has stories of being yelled at or belittled in front of their peers, when faced with bewildered stares at an in person meeting once after doing this, the manager said "It's nothing personal, that's just how we do it in Slovenia, we have tougher skin." - Multiple department leads over the years have been known to leave their direct reports in tears after every meeting. "Challenges (if you would prefer mundane)" - Avoiding sexual advances from people ranking far higher than you at work events is a big one. It's great being wildly uncomfortable at events you're "strongly suggested" (forced) to attend. - Diversity beyond just having a lot of women isn't really diversity if almost everyone is white (also worth noting there's a running joke they only hire attractive women). This is a challenge for Celtra because, as a lead once stated, "it's a talent issue"—even though many qualified people apply. - Doing the work of 2-3 people because your whole team got laid off and the people meant to be "support" are in another country and offline most of your workday. "Timezones (can sometimes mean calls at off-hours)" - If you are not willing to hop on weekly large 6am team calls you are going to be labeled as not "present" even if they told you at time of hire it's fine you can't regularly attend them. Keep in mind the Slovenians will not answer anything after 5-6 pm their timezone, and will send you passive-aggressive responses about respecting their hours if you do.
