Pros

There are many pro's to working here, like an on site gym with personal trainer, on site catering company that makes fresh home made meals each day at a very reasonable price, but most importantly it's the people you work with that are awesome.

Cons

can't think of any at this time.

Pros

They have a reputation for serving some of the hardest to place clients in the city; if you want a job that's challenging but rewarding, then look into them, but only if you can work well being extremely independent. However, you do get to do good in your community and you get to see the impact it makes with your clients. This is a great agency if you're new to social work; they even have co-op placements available for college/university students. If you're a new graduate, then this might also be a good option for you; stay for a few months to really understand what this field is like and then use your experience to pivot to a better job.

Cons

Management is awful, full stop. There's over a 1/1 ratio of front line staff to management/admin staff and yet you're constantly feeling alone and completely unsupported. For all that management seems powerless to help you, they'll do everything possible to undermine you if you run into an issue with a client since time and time again they've shown that their stats are more important than their staff. The salary is a joke for what the job actually is and you'll never actually be able to take all your breaks as outlined in the collective agreement. There is little to no upward movement and no clear career path within the agency.

Pros

Great team. Great environment. Very satisfying work.

Cons

All the challenges that come with a not for profit - underfunded, salaries that should be higher, no benefits (but very liberal with time off/paid vacation).
