Pros

Castleton are not without their problems. Formed by the acquisition of 10/11 companies, merging these individual companies into one PLC, has meant that some talented people have left the business (which is natural for any acquisition or large change). However, on the plus side this has made way for new talented people, brining new ideas to Castleton, so that what once felt like several different companies under one roof now truly feels like one Castleton with everyone on the same page pulling in the same direction. I have seen the latter end of this journey and can say even in my short time at Castleton things have changed and improved dramatically, and I believe this improvement has also now been seen by our customers too. Castleton is fast paced and like anything worth doing, it is not always easy, however it is rewarding, and not just due to the fact that Castleton do look after their staff and compensate them well. Along with great people, great working environment and just generally a great company to work for, you can expect PLC benefits (Perkbox, Sharesave Scheme etc etc etc), but still with a small business vibe - enough resources to help you, but not so much that there is red tape preventing you from getting things done Loads and loads of learning opportunities whether that is just from the amount of technology you are exposed to, to the hugely talented and technically skilled people at Castleton, or from actual training that Castleton offer to their staff. I can honestly say that I have earned more, and learned more at Castleton, than I have in any other role in my career.

Cons

As above there are some growing pains from time to time. It is frustrating at the time, but management are usually on this and get it dealt with. They aren’t perfect, but the team aren’t so big that you cant talk to anyone to sort things out, and that’s the reality of working in a fast paced company right? It isn’t always smooth sailing, but that is how you grow. As the business changes and evolves new problems arise and get dealt with.

Pros

In the beginning there were lots of supportive, knowledgeable and friendly people around, but alas most of these have left and so did I. I am sad to say it is the worst company I have ever wasted my engery on and am so glad to see the back of it, even with a £8,000+ pay reduction to do so!

Cons

Salaries (if you were young, pretty and of the desired gender) were competitive. Otherwise "you should suck it up because (insert sexist, ageist or racist comment here) and you'll be pretty close to the mark. Working and keeping on top of everything whilst you are on annual leave or off sick is expected. Management have no respect or care for the staff. You are expected to put everything in for the company, but if you expect anything back, forget it! Even down to being paid for travel time, which sometimes could be long hours, you were expected to just work it. Management will happily throw staff under the bus to make themselves look good to those above them and customers. Your efforts are futile and after constant basing to work hard, they just pile more on you. Management have stale ideas, empty promises and a bag full of lies waiting for you! It's a terrible place to work, I'm disappointed in myself that I wasted so much energy here, and I beg you if you are reading this and thinking of going for an interview/ applying... Do your self a favour and don't.
