Pros

At Castillo Engineering, working in the Civil Department means being part of a team that values Passion, Process, and People. The projects are both challenging and rewarding, offering civil engineers a chance to make a real impact while developing technical and leadership skills. From grading plans and stormwater design to collaborating with solar developers, every task contributes to meaningful, sustainable infrastructure. The company culture supports growth through mentorship, clear processes, and open communication. Engineers are encouraged to take ownership of their work, lead tasks, and contribute ideas that improve workflows and project outcomes. Castillo’s streamlined processes allow engineers to stay focused and efficient, while the leadership team provides support and guidance every step of the way. Team members are not just coworkers—they’re a family of driven, positive people who help each other succeed. With a strong focus on career development, project variety, and a healthy work-life balance, Castillo Engineering offers a truly fulfilling place to grow as a civil engineer. At Castillo Engineering, there are many opportunities to learn new skills and grow both personally and professionally. The projects are varied and interesting, helping team members build confidence and take on more responsibility over time. The company supports growth by providing training, guidance, and a supportive, family-like team environment where everyone helps each other succeed. Castillo Engineering is committed to helping employees reach their career goals and offers chances to advance and take on new challenges for a bright future.

Cons

One challenge at Castillo Engineering is that the work can be fast and busy, especially when handling many projects with tight deadlines. Because the company works on a lot of solar and civil projects, sometimes the workload feels heavy, so good time management and flexibility are needed. Communication between teams is usually good, but as the company grows, there is always room to improve how people work together and share information. The team feels like a family, where everyone supports each other and has each other’s backs. This is great but can also be challenging for people who are not used to such a close and responsible team environment. For those who like to take charge and work hard, these challenges help them learn and grow.

Pros

Small company, this allows you to learn a lot of different areas of the industry. And because of this there's lots of growth opportunity. Great teammates with lots of knowledge. Lots of work, you won't feel like you are just sitting around looking for something to do which makes the days go by. Flexibility to work remote but the teammates and all the things to learn make it worth driving into the office. If you are passionate about engineering and getting to create something then you won't be disappointed.

Cons

Not a lot, just the normal things that come with a smaller company, such as growing pains, shifting processes and lots of work. While lots of work keeps the days going by, sometimes it can feel overwhelming; but none-the-less rewarding.
