Pros

Being a startup it gives you the opportunity and authority to build your department and program the way you think is best. You have a great deal of autonomy, responsibility, and expectations, but leadership is very supportive and engaging. They don't criticize you, or micromanage you. The C-suite is very engaged and transparent with the whole company. Everyone knows what is going on, what the main mission goal is, and how they can contribute to make it successful. Any blockers are met with teamwork on identifying the best route to remove them. Individuals are encouraged to contribute in any way possible to make the company a success and good environment to work in.

Cons

If you have never worked at a startup it can feel daunting. Some people like it, some don't. You will have a lot of responsibility and be expected to able to operate autonomously for the most part. If that is not your work style you might not enjoy it.

Pros

What makes Castelion different is how directly connected you are to the mission. We’re not guessing what matters—you hear it firsthand from senior government officials. The customer relationships are strong, and there’s deep mutual respect. They treat us like partners, not vendors. It’s rare as an engineer or PM to work this closely with top defense leaders and know the work you’re doing is solving real national security challenges. Feedback is fast, priorities are clear, and the impact is tangible. The team here executes at a high level, but without arrogance. It’s about delivering for the mission, not chasing titles or credit.

Cons

You need to be adaptable—priorities can shift based on customer needs, and you have to stay sharp. But that’s part of what makes it exciting.

Pros

If you like being in the thick of it, working on hardware, solving problems of national significance, Castelion is the place to be. I’ve truly never had this much ownership or impact so early in a role. The team is small but packed with talent (Former SpaceX, Zipline, Skunk Works, Raytheon, etc). Everyone pulls their weight and you can actually feel progress day to day.

Cons

There’s no one telling you exactly what to do, but that’s part of what makes it great! Can be overwhelming at times but lots of opportunity.
