Pros

Moderately fast paced, great junior and mid-level colleagues, good access to information, many opportunities for intellectual stimulation, high quality office

Cons

Siloed teams, opaque upper management and decision making processes, not meritocratic at all, poor resource allocation within the organization, unwillingness to diagnose problems or address past mistakes

Pros

Cartica is full of smart and interesting people who are experts in Emerging Market investing and public equity. The team culture is great -- people are nice to each other, from executives to support staff -- but also push each other to be excellent at their jobs. Because it is a small team, there is opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of new experiences throughout the investment process, fundraising, and ops. Cartica is a relatively rare asset manager that is truly focused on doing serious ESG due diligence and engagement with companies to help them to improve their practices. During COVID, we've been working from home and haven't been able to travel, but that's just the way the world is working right now. Leadership has worked hard to make sure we still feel like a team, even though we're mostly on Zoom.

Cons

I can't think of any major cons. It's a great place to work.

Pros

The environment is highly collaborative and collegial, and everyone is highly willing to help one another out. There is a real emphasis placed on learning new things and improving the companies the firm invests in. This mission-driven attitude trickles down from upper management to junior personnel. And everyone is super friendly!

Cons

Occasionally the organizational structure feels a bit siloed
