Pros

The first thing you will hear from any employee that works here is how incredible the culture is and it's very true. The way you are treated as an employee is phenomenal. The job itself is very enjoyable. The talent that creates the products we sell are so impressive and honestly, it's such an easy conversation to have when you know you have the best products. That's not me just placing my loyalty to CarGurus. I really believe there is a wide margin between our offering and our competitors and the many brilliant minds that came from these Ivy league schools in Boston played a large part in that. The technology we use to do our job was such a pleasant surprise. All of the A.I that is built into our internal tools made my ramping period very expedited. I was able to find everything I needed virtually instantly. It's by far the quickest I've been able to learn the who's who in any organization i've worked for. Leadership is great. They are all about the employee having what they need to do their job and they make sure you are enjoying a healthy work life balance. My manager gives me what I need and then gets completely out of my way. I never have busy work. We never have pointless meetings. The stage is very set to go and do which is very valuable. I've been in automotive my entire career and for the most part those other companies only hired automotive. Quite a bit of that is true here but I think it's a great strength that many of our employees come from other industries before landing here. They see things differently and that's something that is very necessary in my mind. I love the Macs we all get. That's a big perk. We have an impressive stipend every quarter we can use for dealership gifts that they really appreciate as well.

Cons

I've sat here for too many minutes trying to think of something and I need to start my day. I really cant think of a single thing that is negative about CarGurus. It's awesome here!

Wow! We really appreciate you sharing these observations. Your point about having a mix of people with and without automotive experience is spot on. Blending these perspectives keeps our work strong and conversations interesting.

Pros

Having completed my first three months as a Senior Engineering Manager, my experience has been very positive so far. Excellent Culture: The organization fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive culture where people are encouraged to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and work together toward common goals. Leadership is approachable, and there is a strong focus on transparency and continuous improvement. Great Team: I have had the opportunity to work with a highly talented, knowledgeable, and supportive team. Everyone is willing to help, share expertise, and contribute to collective success, making onboarding and collaboration seamless. Technology-Forward and Innovation-Driven, The company embraces modern technologies and remains technology-agnostic, selecting the best tools and platforms for the problem at hand rather than being tied to specific vendors. The organization is proactive in exploring emerging technologies, including cloud, platform engineering, and AI, which creates an exciting environment for learning and innovation. Overall, my first three months have reinforced that this is a great place to grow professionally while working on meaningful and technically challenging initiatives.

Cons

The hybrid work model requires employees to be in the office three days per week, which may not suit everyone. However, I personally appreciate the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face, build relationships, and connect with colleagues. Combined with the office perks and supportive environment, I do not currently have any major cons to report.
