Great company but student housing was not for me - Leasing Manager Capstone Companies Employee Review

This job allows for a lot of free time. When not helping residents, Community Assistants can read, work on homework, and even watch Netflix.

Lately, the Management has been getting stricter about what students can do at the desk. They have started to develop the mentality that Community Assistants should always be working, and they have started micromanaging. Also Community Assistants are required to work one "grave yard" shift per week from 12:00-3:00 AM or 3:00-6:00 AM.

If you have a good local management team and fun coworkers like I was lucky enough to have, you WILL have a fun job. I made some great friends and I have a lot of memories from this job. It also gives you a very basic understanding of sales. But the job usually gives you a lot more freedom than you would have compared to a normal college job. Also the hours are flexible.

The biggest flaw by a mile is the corporate management. They pay community assistants minimum wage and $30 per lease. This is far lower than ANY apartment complex in my college town of well over 20 complexes. Also, they offer no rent comp (which most complexes offer), and you will NEVER get a base pay raise regardless of how long you work there. I worked there for 1 1/2 years and was consistently one of the top leasers yet still got the same base pay as someone who is brand new or someone who sucked at their job. How do you explain being one of the most expensive properties with a staff that has out-leased all but one property in town but still continue to grossly under pay them?
