Pros
-Tallahassee itself is a nice town to raise a family in. -I had some great coworkers that were the only reason I didn't go into a full depression. -Benefits are truly wonderful. Easily the best benefits of any company I have ever worked at. -The director is a great person. Very well spoken and seems to have the knowledge necessary to create a great department. -If you need a job right out of college to gain some experience and no one else is hiring, I would take this one. Work here for a year and then leave to someplace sane. -I rarely worked more than 8 hours in a day, but that was because I was efficient at my job. This was not a difficult task because the work was mostly things which could be automated.
Cons
-Technology is atrocious. The computers looked like they were from 2000. -2 of the 3 "actuarial managers" were inept and I question whether they could do basic mathematics, let alone complex forecasting. -2 of the 3 managers used fear to try and intimidate employees. -Very little guidance on anything that I was tasked to do. A big part of that was because the manager had no idea how to do anything. Anytime I asked them a question, they would look at me like I had spoken to them in a foreign language. -Starting pay was outrageously poor, but is acceptable for Tallahassee since the cost of living isn't that much. -Work environment was so upsetting, even if the company offered me 5x my prior salary, I wouldn't go back. No amount of money is worth being that unhappy.
