Pros

None really. You get to see some cool cars that you'll never afford by working there.

Cons

The owner is short tempered and abusive with zero tolerance. There are numerous incidences where he has become irate with employees, screaming and cussing them out. In several cases he has become physical by way of throwing blunt and heavy objects and even striking/slapping his subordinates. There is a running joke that the hockey pucks scattered around the facility as "paper weights" are his favorite projectile, so you better watch out unless you want a rubber disk in your mouth--how that is laughable is beyond me. The owner fires people without hesitation often over trivial matters and also including discriminatory factors such as race and age. The abuse trickles down through the business manager who is often just as temperamental as the owner. Although she deserves some benefit of the doubt (she's on fire from the fire the owner breathes on her), there is no excuse to deflect that rage onto employees. She barks orders, and when something is urgent she will ask you at least 15 times if it's close to being done. On top of that you can expect to be side tracked by random tasks dumped on you on a constant basis. Have a big project that will take at least half a day? Expect it to take a full day and a half because you will be tossed 20 other tasks. They boast about providing full benefits at zero out-of-pocket, but what good is that when it is like pulling teeth to get the day off for a doctor or dentist visit? Good luck getting any time off in general... There's a ridiculous policy that the owner believes nobody should take any time off whatsoever in their first entire year. They also demand to know every detail of your requested time off. Talk about invasive. On that note, the PTO accrual is extremely slow at 3 days per year (is that legal?). Good luck visiting family for the holidays... 6 days over the entire year. Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve? Nope. Only the day-of for all major holidays. How can you arrange travel time? You're expected to work the day before and the day after. No compromise. When it comes to pay they will cheat you in the negotiation. Try declaring a flat rate salary, they will weave in required overtime to meet that. If you declare an hourly rate you'll be swindled into taking a few dollars less with the "promise" of getting your expected wage pending a 3-month performance review. Problem is that the promise may never come. I waited more than 6 months for my evaluation, and when I finally did I was given a stellar review, but despite going far beyond my expectations I was given a measly dollar increase. Bonuses? If you're lucky, you might get something beyond a hundred or two cash for your Christmas bonus. Beyond cheap. Their response to COVID-19: Since the regulations authorized auto repair service to continue business, they exploited that loophole and required everyone to work despite the public health hazard. Thing is this is not a repair shop, it is a restoration shop for only the highest-end clients with luxury and collectible vehicles. Average Joe can't get an oil change for his Honda. Mechanical repairs are strictly for the purpose of restoring vehicles for sale, consignment, or the collection of some millionaire/billionaire. The company does not have a good reputation among vendors and the local community. Withholding payments from your vendors is terrible business etiquette. Imagine the embarrassment of calling on a parts supplier to be hung up on or told, "We don't do business with that guy." The owner is sue-crazy and penny-pinching. Hiring practices are shady and discriminatory. They don't like college grads because they are "know it all's." Too old, they won't even consider you. Depending on the position they won't hire based on sex. Girls get denied for being too pretty because they might "distract shop mechanics." Company is mostly white and male. Company is stuck in an old-school mentality with outdated technology. Culture is basically non-existent since they get mad if you mingle with workers from other departments. Management is overbearing and abusive. The owner is full of himself, a Z-list celebrity with an obnoxious amount of pride. Do not waste your time here.
