Pros

Opportunity to make an impact at a small company

Cons

People are openly hostile to each other and, honestly, just mean. Imagine people in their 30s and 40s gossiping about each other. It feels more like a high school lunch room than a professional work environment. I even saw someone get so frustrated by the toxicity that they quit and left on the same day. Tons of instability and turnover. Financially, focusing on the student loan space also didn’t make sense with payment suspension going on. They also have a practice where they closely count how many hours you do each day, which felt like I was constantly being watched/ surveilled.

We take all feedback seriously, and have discussed your comments with the senior leadership team. As a management team we do not tolerate inappropriate behavior and immediately investigate and take action when needed. In the past two months, we have built out the resources within our People team to ensure that we continue to develop our practices in accordance with our values. Like many mature, software as a service companies that offer professional services related to enterprise implementations and product integration (we are largely integrated into third party applications), we are required to track time spent on client deliverables in accordance with client contracts and billing requirements. The student loan payment moratorium has both provided a temporary reprieve on payments and interest but has also created ongoing borrower confusion and uncertainty, and has elongated the pay down horizon by an average of three years for most borrowers (the average pay down is already 17 to 20 years). We remain steadfast in our mission to help borrowers achieve a debt-free future, during this moratorium and beyond. The moratorium has not solved the student debt problem for the 47M Americans who have aspired to change their lives through the power of education, and financed their pursuits as an alternative to not attending college at all. In fact, our borrowers, on average, are struggling with over $50,500 of student debt with many users struggling with debt that far exceeds their total annual earnings. We are here to serve our users and our customers, and we are committed to creating an exceptional experience for our employees that bring this mission to life. Candidly has experienced very little voluntary turnover during a period of significant growth over the last three years. It is clear that your experience was counter to all of the values we hold so dear. Thank you for your feedback, which helps us to be a better organization. Pros

This is honestly an awesome workspace to be part of. The leadership team is exceptionally well-trained and really knows how to guide the company forward. I'll be honest - the project management side could use some improvement, but that doesn't take away from what makes this place special. What really stands out is how incredible this environment is for growth and learning. You're literally learning from some of the best people in the industry, and that's not something you find everywhere. The atmosphere is genuinely friendly and welcoming, which makes the work something you actually look forward to. One thing that really surprised me is how accessible the company owner is. There's direct contact and communication, which creates this sense of transparency that's pretty rare in most organisations. But honestly, what makes the biggest difference here are the people themselves. Everyone is truly open to your ideas - not just politely listening, but actually engaging and discussing them seriously. They're patient when it comes to teaching or explaining concepts, never making you feel like you're asking too many questions. The collaborative spirit here is something else. It's an incredible place to work, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a company where they can genuinely grow while being surrounded by amazing people who care about your development.

Cons

I rather not say any disadvantages.

Pros

This was a very hands on experience, where what I did day-to-day varied consistently and I had complete ownership of a few projects. Definitely thrown in the deep end with certain things, but had lots of support from my team and superiors especially which was very reassuring. Really appreciate how collaborative the culture was where learning was always encouraged.

Cons

I think having the option to be in person would be beneficial. While I appreciate the flexibilities that come with being fully remote but think there are certain things I missed out on by not having some in person interactions.
