Pros
- Very intelligent and experienced management - Dedicated scheduling department makes it much easier to get a shift covered than at other jobs - Exceptional environment for women, artists, and LGBT community, probably the highest concentration of working artists and gay men in the city. You will not feel out of place here if you felt out of place in other workplaces - As part of the FOH team, you get to watch performances as long as you're paying attention to patron activity while doing so - As part of the Food and Beverage team, you get to work at a different bar each day and the tips are quite good.
Cons
- A "fishbowl" mentality can emerge, as it can in many workplaces. Small petty things can feel bigger because it's such a close-knit community. And despite it being a very good wage for a very fun job, there are still people who make it unpleasant to be there, simply because they prefer to have something to complain about. But working at the COC, you have to be a very negative, self-pitying, spoiled person to find things to complain about. As long as you can identify and avoid getting involved with these individuals, you'll enjoy working there.
