Pros

They have some nice employees but high employee turnover so unsure if the same people still work there.

Cons

If you are not a teacher I would not suggest working here. If you are a support staff you’ll experience extreme disorganization and un professionalism. They have no idea what they are doing and have no direction. Time is constantly wasted and the environment is not enjoyable to work in.

Pros

Calgary Academy has so many supports for new and experienced teachers alike. They have some fabulous instructional designers and coaches, as well as a whole department just for researching ways to innovate the teaching and learning that occurs in our school. There are many opportunities for PD, which I appreciate. All you need to do is ask.

Cons

A partial con: Sometimes it can be almost overwhelming how many things are going on and how many ideas you can take and learn from, but I think that is also something I like about the school. You just need to pick and choose carefully, taking what works best for you.

Pros

Dedicated to students with learning disabilities and challenges Caring and supportive staff and administration Smaller class sizes Remediation programs for students Passionate and enthusiastic support staff On-site IT department with prompt support and access to basic technology Major changes seem to be influenced by research, feedback and best practices in education not just buzz words and short term trends If staff, teachers and even students aren't the "right fit" for whatever reason, support and action is taken to rectify or help improve the situation (keeps employees focused and prevents staleness) Qualified teachers who actually enjoy teaching their subjects and grade levels

Cons

Building could use an update, especially in the high school side where most of integrated studies are taught More CTS options would be great for students (Public schools definitely surpass CA in this area. Students at CA need to be exposed to more career choices that realistically cater to their interests and strengths) Timetables/schedules could use work (other schools should be used as inspiration Entitlement and privilege can definitely be felt in the school. But there are some teachers and students who come from public schools that help keep things grounded No diversity program Grade inflation Does not offer Knowledge & Employability courses even though CA students may excel in the program
