Pros

Great volunteers, great cause to support and the members are great to work with.

Cons

Departments are so silo'd. Leadership is hard to trust as their actions do not match what they say. It's a challenging work environment where you never know what's going to come at you. Lots of micromanagement and no understanding of what it really takes to get the work done. Not a fun place to work

Pros

Leaders were great, colleagues were down-to-earth. Most people worked 9/80 schedule (9-hour shifts with alternating Fridays off) and 1 day remote. Job seemed pretty stable since in such a niche industry (servicing wastewater professionals)

Cons

None out of the ordinary for a non-profit

Pros

CWEA is a small office but provides many opportunities to learn new skills. It staffs only about 15 people but is involved with many wastewater agencies throughout California. I met and worked with an amazing group of volunteers at CWEA and it was one of my best job experiences.

Cons

When I worked there full-time, the departments didn't work very well together. This made it difficult to get big picture things done. By the time I converted to a contract position, the work environment was slowly starting to change, so I don't doubt CWEA's work culture has already improved.
