Pros

Being of service to community, meaningful/impactful work, wonderful field-based staff you'll meet and befriend during your time, and the experience you'll gain doing the work.

Cons

TOXIC WORK CULTURE, barely any organizational support/systems/structure/processes, little follow through from basic operational departments, rampant cronyism, inequity, financial mismanagement, embarrassing lawsuits, embarrassing behavior from managers/senior leadership, morally challenged leadership, little employee training/development (you'll get thrown in the deep end,) and simply horrible decisions that trickle from the top... As an organization, CORE is obsessed with the optics of looking like they're doing good rather than actually doing good and supporting the field staff on the front lines working with communities. Its savior complex trumps any potential they may have had and it has been a heartbreak to witness.

Pros

- Mission-Driven Work: The company does incredible things for humanity, making the work deeply meaningful and rewarding. - Remote Work & Flexibility: Offers excellent remote work options and the day-to-day flexibility to complete tasks on your own schedule.

Cons

- Little to no room for growth or career advancement plan. In the entire time I was there, not one person from my department was promoted, on the contrary, the company had 3 layoffs in the few years that I was there. - Voluntold Culture: While attendance at company events is framed as "voluntary," there is strong management pressure to attend. Declining invitations noticeably impacts your day to day worklife. -Expect frequent, sudden shifts in priorities. If an urgent issue pops up, you are required to drop everything instantly and pivot at lightning speed. - Lots of back and forth with editing. Unsure of who trumps who with seniority or accuracy. - Funding is highly unstable and constantly fluctuating, resulting in an extreme lack of resources and budget.
