Pros

Good benefits, flexibility, friendly co workers, busy shop environment so the day passes quickly

Cons

Store Management put constant pressure on staff, no employee stayed much beyond the trial period, utterly relentless fault finding, phone calls on days off to reprimand, admonishments written large on the whiteboard in the staff area for all to see, this combined with the back breaking work of daily food deliveries, carrying dead weight boxes in and out and being bent double to defrost chest freezers, back breaking work all meant to be done at double speed to stop foods melting while simultaneously serving customers and offering them food samples these combined with being watched like hawk from behind the counter and receiving never ending negative feedback. The combined effect made for an incredibly stressful and hostile work place. A profoundly unhappy time in my life.

Pros

Paid breaks, friendly sales assistants.

Cons

Unprofessional working environment, including inappropriate comments being made regularly. intimidation of staff, excessively micromanaged them and retail assistants were blamed for poor sales and customers not making purchases. Communication skills were poor, with assistants often being ignored, not listened to, interrupted, made to feel unwelcome or disruptive by asking questions. Sudden resignations went unresolved and unreported, as the shop is isolated from senior management and HR.
