Pros

Great place to work while you are looking for another job. They do help the San Diego Innovation economy, but it's mainly due to Springboard and the person in charge of Springboard.

Cons

Where to begin... Management or lack there of. Beware of the seeded positive review pinned to the top. It was written by a current upper management employee who drank the kool aid. The CEO is checked out, clueless, and has his own agenda. The COO acts like a 12 year old when things don't go her way. If any employee challenges, questions, or appears to know more than the COO, they are the enemy. Upper management acts like a high school clique (i.e. Mean Girls). The CEO talks about wanting to be the "cool kids" and being innovative, but they do nothing innovative internally. They tried to enforce a rule about everyone having just one personal item at their desk and a white coffee mug. Not very innovative, more like 1984. A video of the new office grand opening was shot and upper management continues to cling to it like a patient clinging to life support, which is a a great analogy for CONNECT. A company clinging to life support not ready for the plug to be pulled. As the title says, it's smoke & mirrors.

Pros

After nearly a year of working here, I have to say I still enjoy working here - the team, the office, the work we all do, meeting innovation companies, and attending great events (social & educational). The great side about working on a small team, is you get lots of experience and exposure. You get an invitation to the leadership table, more than once! (which is what I was looking for). I'm looking forward to another great year!

Cons

Small staff, so lots of projects for everyone on the team.

Pros

CONNECT is a work environment based on trust where open door really is just that - the executive team will listen to ideas and really wants to involve the whole team in decisions and direction. There is a lot of trust put in the employees to execute their jobs without micro-management. Having been at the organization for over a year, I have see a great deal of change - all of it extremely positive. CONNECT has an incredible direction now that it never had before - it is focused, mission-driven, and becoming more successful every day. There was a great deal of staff turn over in the past year, which is usually a sign of unsteadiness, but in reality it was more aligning the staff with the duties and expectations of where CONNECT is headed. There is an incredible amount of opportunity for growth, there is good reward in salary for a job well done. I've seen people get raises and promotions to reward hard work and dedication without having to ask for them and these rewards are tied to performance, not who you know or how long you have been there. There is an incredible new office and a new breath of fresh air around CONNECT. Now that the leadership has been hiring positive, hard-working people there is a great culture and a very team-oriented attitude throughout the entire office, we are poised for bigger and better achievements than ever before.

Cons

Sometimes there are long hours, but when you serve innovation and start-up companies that seems natural. The longer days are fewer and farther between.
