Loved the purpose of COEM , but felt the company falling apart because of poor unethical management. - Anonymous employee COEM Employee Review

Pros

This was a place for patients to come who were out of options with traditional doctors. A place that offered hope and help with understanding. Most co-workers were a pleasure to work with, and the Doctors were an abundance of knowledge. Very easy going about needing time off for personal or family related issues.

Cons

Unethical upper management, poor training of new employees, unrealistic expectations for those untrained, very low pay, little to no benefits, absolutely no trust with management and personal information. Could not rely on manager to solve issues with unhappy patients who demanded to speak with them. Pay attention to the employee concerns, they are the ones dealing with the patients who bring in the money.

Thank you for your feedback. It would seem that the comments made about management are a direct affront to the manager specifically. Since the last manager has transferred to another city due to spousal obligations she/he are not able to speak to the same. The use of the word 'moral' is also inappropriate. Please provide direct evidence of any occasion in which you personally experienced immoral behavior or you witnessed it for another employee. Most employees are quite happy here and thus the reason one just retired after 19 years here and three others with 18, 14, and 10 years respectively are still with the company. As to pay, we place ads for employment like any other company. You were given a wage in line with the work performed and told upfront what to expect. The job description for the position is spelled out in detail prior to taking the position, and unlike most other places of work, we actually have potential candidates come and observe the work for several hours so they can see 'exactly' what it is they will be doing as part of a final interview. If someone did not like the offer, the office environment, or the employer, they have the right to pass on an offer and go to any employer they choose. You are given an evaluation after 90 days (if the employee is up to par at that time) or later if required due to lack of performance. An annual evaluation is also performed and if an increase is warranted one is provided. This is a small company with limited resources. We provide full dental coverage and partial health insurance benefits. I am not clear on what you may have been looking for but everything you were promised was provided. As to training, some positions have more extensive training than others. No employee is ever just placed at a desk and asked to get started. If that occurred no one would be able to perform any work requested of them. We appreciate that you realize our caring and understanding for employees when you stated: "Very easy going about needing time off for personal or family related issues." We do our best to make a rewarding work environment. Some people see and appreciate our way of thinking and some do not. This is common in any workplace. Good Luck to you in your future endeavors. Pros

COEM is a great opportunity for anyone with a keen interest in working in the health and wellness field. Every position has direct contact with world class physicians, who are willing to teach at any level to improve your skills. There is even opportunity to learn business practices and to grow your career. I was with the company six years, and was given the opportunity to work remotely when my husband's career moved us all over the world. I have worked in many roles, but by far my favorite has been working as a clinical historian and working directly with doctor's and patients. This role showed me first hand how functional medicine can change lives by improving health. Everyday in this job you have the opportunity to impact patient lives. This is an extremely rewarding place to work. The hours are great, Monday through Friday 8-5 , which works for many schedules. This is an excellent place to not only learn skills but to grow a career.

Cons

As this is a smaller practice there are limited benefits, however pay is competitive.

Pros

We get weekends off and also paid Holidays, management is reasonable with any employee who's doing their job proficiently. They hired me with no experience willing to give me a chance after graduating from college with a medical degree. The Doctor's are all wonderful and always looking for the best outcome for all of our patients. While on maternity leave I was told I could take as much time as I need off to spend time and, bond with my newborn. I was also offered a higher position and compensated more than I was required to get, which was very courteous of my upper management. If I ever need time off for family matters or any other personal issue its never a problem. My pay is reasonable but, with any place you work for you have to work your way up to make the pay you want too which takes time.I'm very happy with my job and management. COEM is a great facility to work for, its truly a pleasure to work here .

Cons

Dealing with immature former coworkers who are unhappy with our management who feel the need to bash our facility and our management because of how they were let go. Not everything you read on the internet is true an everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, don't believe half of what you hear. Other than dealing with hateful former employees there aren't any true cons about this practice.
