Pros
Travel galore! If you are single and like to travel, you will love to work here. There are tons of FBT opportunities and a lot of them are away on company dime almost year-round. They have to spend the budget anyway. You also get to accumulate fair amount of air miles and hotel points, that you can use in your personal vacations (yes, the investment staff takes their air miles points seriously).
Cons
Dunning-Kruger effect in full swing: people who are incompetent and lack knowledge in a field tend to massively overestimate their abilities because, quite simply, they don’t know enough to recognize what they don’t know. So hugely unqualified people erroneously believe that they’re perfectly qualified. This effect that has an unfortunate tendency to create the worst possible bosses. The managers are mostly from MD management. They have the utmost job security and if they fail at front office, they became the head of middle office. The poor governance starts from the investment committee, where the external "experts" are on tight leash with their contract renewed on an annual basis by the management.
