Pros

It’s quick and easy to make commission at this job if you are a good enough salesperson and competitive. Working in the airport can lead to other opportunities/making connections with important people and meeting all different types of folks. You help with security, so this job kinda makes you feel important, especially when they run K9s. Management will buy snacks for the break room, you get a free membership for yourself and a couple family members.

Cons

This work environment is BEYOND toxic and corrupt. Coworkers are just there for the money, a majority of them don’t care about anyone other than themselves. Constant fighting and harassment between who would verify existing members and who would go sell memberships would happen daily. Not to mention that the membership itself has gone downhill so now you’re dealing with upset members. You work alongside TSA who doesn’t like Clear so you’re hated by practically everyone in the airport. Not to mention the wheelchair company (prospect) who you’ll get into daily arguments with because they want to cut in front of you. Coworkers would get frustrated with members and would yell at them and other coworkers causing a scene. This job is about security and it feels like a joke. Suddenly there’s a rush of people at the gate and there you are having to help members alone because half of your coworkers called out and the other half are out scamming people into becoming members. Then you have to deal with the people who were scammed because they had no idea what they signed up for and just want to get through security. Because the commission is so easy and quick to get, workers will say anything and take advantage of any anxiety stricken traveler just to make a quick buck. These selfish coworkers will take advantage of anyone. Management bought snacks for the break room? Gone within the hour. You still haven’t taken your 15 min break or 30 min lunch and it’s your 7th hour of your shift? Well too bad you won’t get to because your coworkers are nowhere to be found after they left for their lunch 2 hours ago. I was always left to fend for myself and was never listened to. I had nearly perfect metrics and I only sold memberships to those I felt could get good use out of it. Instead of rewarding the good employees who create long lasting customers, management demands quantity over quality whilst not giving you the opportunity to even go out and get more sales. Management hides in their office instead of coming out to the floor to help their employees get the sales they so badly demand. The senior ambassadors (supervisors) are just glorified babysitters who nobody listens to. I felt bad for a majority of the senior ambassadors as none of the scammers would ever do anything they were told. Men were typically favored over women and many scammy employees were reaping the benefits of floating from busy checkpoint A to busy checkpoint B getting sale after sale only having to work a 4 hour shift. Whilst the rest of us worked full shifts and had to stay at a singular checkpoint (2 checkpoints if you’re lucky) even LUCKIER if you’re able to get a sale and not just spend your entire shift taking care of existing members. I worked both shifts. The AM shift being 3:45AM-12:15PM. The PM shift being 11:30AM to 8:00PM. Both shifts were awful at the AM shift leaves you feeling exhausted and only having a few hours in the day to get things done as I’d have to go to bed early around 6pm in order to ensure I got enough sleep. But you’re on your feet the entire shift so you’re going feel exhausted regardless of how much sleep you got. The PM shift sucks as it just takes up your entire day. Only the lucky few (usually men) were able to get the Mid shift 7:00AM-3:30PM. Everyone is exhausted and hates their job so your coworkers are either rude or just downright suicidal. You have to take the sky train into work which will take you anywhere from 15-25 minutes to get into work. If you’re running late and want to avoid a late penalty, you can always pay $15 to pay in the terminal! Yes! Paying to park at your job! Forgot lunch? Don’t worry you can always purchase food at the airport and have to pay awful prices because your discount is only 5-10%! If you’re not exceedingly competitive and ready to put your needs above everyone else’s and disrespect everyone you work with, you’ll be taken advantage of.

Pros

CLEAR offered remote work, schedule flexibility, and good benefits. The workload was manageable at times, and some leaders were supportive and helpful when available.

Cons

The role often felt fast-paced, high-pressure, corporate, and metrics-heavy. Policies were somewhat clear but not always, and expectations were not always realistic. There were training gaps, frequent policy changes, limited growth opportunities, and not always enough time or support to do the job well. Speed often seemed to matter more than quality. Communication and organization were also challenges. Knowledge documents were difficult to locate, even with keywords that should have produced clear results, which made it harder to assist members efficiently and accurately. Some feedback from management also felt discouraging because mistakes were not always approached as coaching opportunities.
