Pros

Some coworkers have become very good friends

Cons

After working for the company for 5 years they are continually finding ways to hinder our ability to make money. They switched from commission based on written sales to commission based on delivered sales, the commission structure once set this company apart from every other furniture store. Draconian micromanaging is growing and growing, from programs that have every employees picture with description and observations. Chanting in a cult like manner every morning. Brainwashing. Absolutely no work life balance. You’re allowed to take one weekend off every quarter yet you are punished and guilt tripped for it. By punished I mean, you’re forced to work 9 days straight. The company opened up too many stores, at once, spreading us thin, and drastically reducing traffic and offering promotions online the customer perceives as not available in the store. Everybody who once made over 60k a year is being pressured into quitting and being replaced by one college graduates that are promised 45,000$ a year as a manager in trading yet their guarantee is actually 36,000$ a year if you do the math. We are written up for being 30% away from goal even if you are a top producing sales person every month prior. Coke heads run the training program and it’s obvious. Our metrics are adjusted just a little bit each year to become more intangible, and it’s done in this fashion so those that aren’t bright wont notice. We are told one thing , then given another and the company is extremely ageist although it is run by crotchety old men. Speaking of which, it’s an old boys club where sexual harassment is rampant, and ignored and sexism rules the workplace in the way my female coworkers and management have been treated. The increasing amount of micromanagement is appalling. With all the changes and disloyalty to employees that have sacrificed and given so much of their in the belief of a “family” company, I thank the company for teaching me that I am a sales person at heart and inspiring me to move on and level up to make some real money. Also, the health benefits are horrific, but they will send employees to rehab.

Pros

2020 and maybe 21,22 were good after it all went down hill (thanks to AH )

Cons

Everyone is related , friends , family etc. HR is all friends with eveyone there for you cannot be taken serious . So many talented associates leave because they are forced out due to personal preference. Turn over company wide they say is low. However the location I worked in 80 precent of people were 6 month or under ! Yikes !!! Management does not know how to keep and lead their team , instead they micro manage , make up new rules that they do not follow after a few weeks and they always seem stressed. Oh and bonus program is constantly restructured . They present it as new opportunities however it’s really for them to pay less. This company always pays very low percentage and you have to jump through hoops that are on fire to make a bonus. And I wasn’t some employee who worked 6 months and quit. I was someone making 90k yearly for several years. This is just a reality. Higher management needs traning asap. And insurance gets worse every year !
