Pros

There are a number of incredibly smart, passionate, and mission-driven people at CHC who care deeply about equity and community well-being. In certain departments, colleagues manage to create pockets of support and camaraderie. The organization also offers remote work, though this benefit is often overshadowed by the stress caused by poor leadership.

Cons

If you’re considering a role at CHC, proceed with caution. While the organization’s mission appears noble on the surface, the internal reality tells a very different story. The workplace culture is marked by performative values and a deeply toxic leadership environment. The CEO operates with little to no accountability, making decisions that often feel erratic and self-serving, with minimal regard for staff input or impact on team morale. Concerns raised by employees are routinely dismissed or buried, and there is no effective system in place to hold senior leadership accountable for harmful behavior. Turnover is high, burnout is rampant, and psychological safety is virtually nonexistent for those not in the inner circle. Staff at all levels are expected to tolerate dysfunction under the guise of “resilience” or “adaptability.” Meanwhile, those who raise valid concerns or attempt to improve internal systems are often pushed out or sidelined.
