Friendly staff team in the home who care about the young people and try their hardest
Cons
Have to use your own car for work but they don't pay for business insurance. Have to pay for a first aid kit to use your car for work or buy your own Overtime and mileage paid following month not the month its worked Very tight budget for food shipping Staff are not allowed go eat meals in the home even when on a 48 hour shift. You have to buy your own coffee on an activity with a yp all day Managers do their best but constantly fighting penny pinching from higher ups Not allowed to use agency even when extremely short staffed so some staff having to do over 80 hours a week to make sure the home is safe. If you are on call you do not get a work phone. No work email so everything is sent to your personal email. Deputies don't get laptops and are expected to do shifts Induction non existent although they make you sign a form to say it has been done or you can't get paid!
Loved being able to have a role where I could make a difference. Colleagues were all really supportive and my Senior was a big help when I had a difficult shift. Very supportive and they truly care about their staff and the support they provide.
Cons
Can be challenging but I find it really rewarding. Part of the job I guess! Because of emergencies and things sometimes my shifts would change but the office are always really good at communicating with us to keep us updated on what's happening.
