Pros

Every level of this company is great. Executive level staff are great, middle management is great, and coworkers great. Executive level staff are available to even the most junior staff. Your concerns are actually heard. Management and your coworkers really want the best for you. Work life balance is superb. You rarely need to work overtime, when you do your whole team pitches in. Hybrid work schedule means you get a few commuting hours of your life back. Management and coworkers are understanding if you need to be late or leave early. You are able to make up any hours missed so you don’t have to dip into your PTO. If you have kids you are able to adjust your work schedule so that you can attend sports, pick them up from school, etc. CESO understands that you work to live, not live to work. They know you have families and that your families are more important than work. This attitude means that we all perform much better under less stress. We have superb staff who do superb work. Turnover is low. We have many long-time employees. Most of the employees with the company a shorter time we’re hired during a large growth spurt in the past few years. I have recruiters reach out to me weekly, and some of the positions are tempting, but none of them can match CESO’s culture and work-life balance. It would have to be a truly amazing offer for me to leave CESO. The health insurance is good. There are two plan choices, though one of them isn’t good and I don’t know why anyone picks it. The good choice has a premium of around $220 per paycheck (for a family, single is different). Individual deductibles are $3000 with a $10,000 out of pocket max for families. The company has an annual service day in which offices take the day “off” to volunteer in the community. Staff also get some additional hours to take off to volunteer. There is a 401k match after 6 months. I can’t recall the percent off the top of my head, but it is competitive. Salary is fair. It isn’t the best in the industry, but it is fair. You can make more at some other firms, but then you sacrifice the culture and work-life balance.

Cons

As an accountant my work can be dull, unfortunately I think it’s just the nature of the position. Sometimes direct supervisors are people you don’t work with or aren’t even familiar with your projects. This is company-wide, not speaking to just one department. I think staff would be better served working under someone who knows what their subordinates are working on. The PTO policy could be better. Entry level staff start out with 15 days for the year. For a young adult this may be fine, but if you have a family it’s challenging. Children require a decent amount of unexpected PTO. My first few years I ran out of PTO and had to take unpaid time while sick and/or just work from home sick as heck.

Pros

Great people. The people make CESO. I liked, even loved, everyone I worked with. Work-life balance was superb. Health insurance was superb. PTO was okay. Culture & values were superb. Working there felt like more than just a job. I would recommend CESO to anyone. It’s a great place to work, especially if you have a family or want to start a family.

Cons

Pay & growth were cons for me personally. Cost of living in the Nashville area has increased significantly in the last 5 - 6 years. I know there was frustration in the office in general regarding pay keeping up with costs. I outgrew my team. I was ready for more challenging tasks and responsibilities, but I don’t think the opportunity was there. I ultimately left CESO due to these reasons.

Pros

No pros when professional unfairness is practiced at any level within a firm.

Cons

Management considers employees only partially/ insufficiently. You are not heard when trying to explain in detail the core of your work problems. Supervisor will only take a general idea from you and apply it to their convenience to judge you. Other employees will assess against you and Supervisor will use the feedback against you without notice.
