Pros

CEI has a very relaxed work environment yet still remains professional. Employees are allowed to dress comfortably. Work hours vary between 6am to 6pm. CEI offers a fair and competitive salary with performance based incentives. All employees have access to health benefits as well. The company has two owners that are heavily involved in the day to day operations. They take the time to get to know all of their employees and are readily available to assist in anyway necessary. The company sponsors several work outings a year, typically surrounding a sporting event as well as a holiday party in the winter. The staff consists of about 15-20% women as well as about 15-20% minority. Promotions always come from within. Job performance is easily accessible on a daily basis along with clear ways to improve your performance. The better you perform, the more you will gain in monetary bonuses. This job offers a great introduction into the business world with a heavy focus on market trends. A great job for motivated, competitive individuals who can work well in a team atmosphere. I worked at CEI for almost 2 years. I moved back to the east coast because of family matters or else I’d still be there.

Cons

Newer employees need to be prepared to work about 6-8 hours a month on the weekend.

Pros

Occasional free snacks and lunch.

Cons

It is a caucasian dominated company. No minorities in any management positions. Pay is low but was informed of commission possibilities. What they do not tell you is the commission is based upon you working on call during weekends, Once you have your first on call weekend, then you will see commission. Commission is based on number of loads booked. Top sales members have been working there for many years and get all the good loads. Good luck fighting with the newbies for loads. no loads=no commission. Management does not care about anything but the bottom dollar. Owners are even worse.

CEI Transport Response

The above review is completely unfounded and is full of inaccuracies of our work environment and culture at CEI. We do have an on-call program which is explained during the interview process. The on call process is part of our training program and every employee has participated. We have a very solid bonus program for all of our employees and we make sure that everyone is involved in our team concept. Our carrier sales team gets more results because they have developed relationships with dispatchers and not due to any favoritism. If you do your job and put in the effort you are well respected and taken care of. As far as being labeled a Caucasian dominated company this is completely unfounded. We are a Equal Opportunity Employer and we welcome anyone interested in CEI to come visit us and see our operation. We are well diversified in staff and management. Management and owners are involved daily with the staff in all aspects of the business and value our employees well being.
