Pros

A small number of employees are knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. The office space is (mostly) nice.

Cons

There are many disappointing and frustrating aspects of CEA. For a supposed cutting edge Defence technology company, the internal IT systems are severely lacklustre. The networks are constantly going down with no explanation, so much that it is an event if you get through the day without something going wrong, and users are often blamed for issues that they have nothing to do with, if the helpdesk looks at their problems at all. The IT team also consistently block the upgrades to technology that will assist in significant improvements to general usability and security because they are unable to understand it, mostly due to their knowledge being 20 years behind current trends, and their refusal to upskill, resulting in an extremely poor experience for any employee that has to use any computer. From a security perspective, the Physical and Cyber security teams often have to fight tooth and claw to implement even the most basic of controls, often bring told to back off and let the most risk-prone employees do whatever they want. Serious breaches go unpunished because executives don't want to upset the status quo, whilst basic misdemeanors that should only require some awareness training could result in being fired by an executive on an ego trip. The company has a serious issue with security and almost every time will put the opinion of one, uninformed member of leadership, over an entire team of qualified security professionals, causing significant lapses. Salary ranges and levels are a joke. Leadership constantly make claims about providing competitive salaries, flexibility, and benefits, without delivering on anything. They spend more time building glossy marketing materials telling people the company has a positive culture than they do actually building one. Overall I could not recommend working for CEA in it's current form, especially if you are looking at a position in IT, Cyber Security, or Physical security.

Pros

Flexible schedules when workload allows, get to spend a lot of time outdoors, the work environment is usually pretty easy going. Work/life balance is good until you get into higher roles - then it becomes a 24/7 job.

Cons

Serious pay discrepancies, especially between Salary and Hourly workers. They can wipe your personal phone when you leave, since they won't issue you a company phone. Management makes LOTS of promises they don't keep. While the job might start out pretty easy, they will continually add responsibilities and make a million excuses not to pay you for the new roles. Despite being a very small company, management will absolutely treat you like you're a little cog in a big machine.
