There is some bureaucracy within the company, which can slow down decision-making. In my case, the structure of the work squad was not suitable for the project. Some developers spent more time criticizing the client's technology than solving the actual development challenges. They lacked the technical skills to overcome obstacles and shifted the responsibility for missing deliverables to others. One of the key developers didn’t have a good command of English and struggled to understand the technical requirements for the client’s integrations. This same developer often blamed others and spread misleading excuses like claiming the product wasn’t defined or the backlog wasn’t refined—when in reality, tasks were prioritized but still not completed. Unfortunately, this developer was protected during layoffs, while many of us were let go for not meeting targets—targets that were unrealistic given these internal issues. It felt like everything was planned to avoid accountability and protect certain people, especially in front of the Managing Partner in Colombia and the client, who were never fully aware of what was really happening.
