Pros

My former boss who left the brand before I did. She was positive, always went to bat for us, made working there fun although the environment was incredibly difficult and stressful. Was very easy to take time off when needed or wanted.

Cons

Was constantly asked to do things out of my job description. Company referred to them as "stretch assignments." Never offered compensation for said assignment. I was doing a senior level job for 4 months, with no offer of a permanent position or even a conversation. I would have to ASK for compensation, and when given an offer that was a complete slap in the face, and when I asked about it, I got a "well its better than nothing" response. There was also a breech in our hiring portal where anyone with access to this site (store manager and above) could see EVERYONES information including social security number, salary and other personal information. When this was brought to light to HR, those who came forward got their hand slapped for trying to do the right thing. Corporate partners are rude and unprofessional to store staff. They act as though they are better than us and are inconsistent with their "visions". Basically there are 25 people telling you where to put a safety pin, but they all tell you do put it somewhere different. Corporate employees are treated far better than store employees. They do manicure Mondays at the office, have parties often and participate in "summer Fridays" where the whole office is closed by 12pm. Where at a store level, we were given a $0 budget to do any employee appreciation at holiday, and had a $50 budget to feed our entire staff (of 17 people) on Black Friday. If it weren't for us these people would not have jobs, however we were treated like we were lesser than.

Pros

Really decent employee discount, cooperative customers, fun storefront and high-tech mobile POS systems that make checking out a TON easier, GREAT pay. The outer values - fun, expression, "affordable" high end - are wonderful and attract a great clientele.

Cons

Company has a policy where at least one manager has to be on the floor at all times - meaning several managers are on duty and all have different ways of doing things. Was told several ways to steam shirts by the three MODs and had to change my technique every time a different one was walking the floor. Management is two-faced and dishonest, did not know when I was being commended or if it was sarcastic. Catty is the word, I think. Customers, while usually nice (think rich mom from the Hamptons with her husband on a golfing trip), are demanding - you are expected to follow them around and cater to them, but do not get commission. Was told upon hiring they use a soft sell approach. Over the 3 months I worked there, more emphasis on selling until we were having contests. "Incentives" to sell more were cheapest item in the store. No holiday bonuses. Hours were ALL over the place - one week would have 35, the next 10. They introduced "on call" shifts so I could not have any plans. Small things: stockroom is dangerous. They expect you to climb on the shelves to get to the top. No upward mobility - they hire managers from outside.
