Pros

Because the laundry list is so long for such a luxurious company, it's quite hard to truly document them all in just one review. But I'll give it the good ol' college try: • It's a job Huh, what do you know. That wasn't so bad after all!

Cons

If I thought that was hard, finding faults with this place should be nearly impossible. As someone who saw quite a bit while being employed here for what felt like eternity, you would think that I would have at least one negative thing to say. But here it goes: • The working conditions go in waves. In the beginning it was spacious, but the construction was on-going and deafening during office hours. Once the first wave was completed, office space quickly became became crammed and uncomfortable. • They rectified that by expanding to the property across the parking lot. But that too filled up, and later caught on fire subsequently forcing the staff to move BACK into the original building making the working conditions quite "cozy". • Your team members will either be too green to know any better, too blind to the reality around them, or husks of their original selves. I'm sure when they joined they were hopeful professionals who were more than capable of doing their jobs. Now they have probably lost the will to care because the reality is even if you fight to change things, you'll end up not being heard or fired for "rocking the boat". • Requirements: They exist. Not only do they exist, but more than one department owns them. Not only that, but they're not consistent. And, not only that, but they're constantly changing because pretty much everyone wants to have the right to own them, but don't want to be responsible for them. So, don't worry if you deliver work that isn't consistent. No one is on the same page, so it doesn't matter anyway. • Leadership: This also exists. The form of its existence is fluid. Some of them are obsessed with playing political corporate games. Most of them have no idea what's going on. And all of them are on different pages. But don't fear, there is at least one manager who constantly tries to protect their team by continuously lying to them about the reality that's being spun for them. The best way to keep your team safe is to throw them under the bus to keep the project going. Because remember, what you don't know won't hurt you. Right? • Food : Now they tell all new hires that they have fully-stocked kitchens and catered daily lunch. This is not entirely untrue. The kitchens are fully-stocked with some items, but not necessities. Simple things like spoons or plates. If you want anything other than coffee or tea, you're on your own. Cereal has occasionally had bugs, the kitchen at one point was infested with ants for almost two weeks, and the lunch is edible but feels like it's the bottom of the barrel in quality. Just don't keep your leftovers or any food snacks in your desk drawers. Mice have been known to break-in. So, if you're looking for water, coffee, and tea. They've got you covered. But if you ask for cups to go with said tea, your expectations are too high. • Process. Okay, I laughed at myself for even thinking of including this. It's so non-existent that it shouldn't even be included. Hand-off to other teams is never easy, communication to solve problems is never productive, but fear not! You'll have plenty of meetings to fill your morning, afternoon, and evenings. Since they pride themselves in having offices here and in China, expect to work pretty much all day. • Drama: So. Much. Drama. If you love a good soap opera, this is the place for you. Yes, it's riddled with incredibly high stress anxiety, but it's worth it for the entertainment. (Perhaps this should be on the Pros list) • Lastly, when you leave the company you will instantly be painted as a horrible employee. All problems get blamed on you, and the real reason why you've left will become a lie to other teams and team members to make your now ex-boss look like the victim. • Oh, and if you do read some good reviews on here, just remember this valuable piece of information: at one point I was told directly from higher up that "recently there have been quite a bit of negative reviews written about BYTON that may, or may not, have influenced new hires. And perhaps, if I could find the time, maybe go on the site and write some nice things about what I like regarding the culture, etc." If you know anything about internet comments, if you flood a feed of bad reviews with good ones, it'll push them to the middle, which is predominantly left unread. Nice move BYTON. Very professional. Whew!! That feels so much better to get off my chest.
