Pros

Free beer and wine everyday after 4. Apps on Fridays. Free munchies every/all day. Catered lunch on Wednesdays. Casual dress. Personalities of my coworkers.

Cons

Oh my, where should I begin. I could seriously write a novel! Notice how none of the "Pros" have anything to do with the employer, the professional experience I had, or what I gained from working there almost 2 years. I am not simply a disgruntled employee. I wasn't fired, and I considered a few of my leaders friends. This isn't bashing, it's the truth...call it a warning. There are no standard salary ranges. So, you could literally be making half what your desk partner is making with the same level of experience. I knew a lady that was making 50% what I was. And I knew somebody that got an increase after threatening to quit, and he was making 25% more than me. Unethical, and I would think that could potentially be a legal problem, but I'm not sure on that. There are NO annual performance raises, so don't ever expect a pay raise, unless you threaten to quit. They will tell you that there are, but they may have been just recently started. I never got one and didn't know a single person that did. You only get 10 days PTO. But nobody can afford to take time off because of how much they push you! During my employment there, they missed a 401(k) contribution from almost every employees' checks for a certain pay period. When it was discovered, the only solution they offered was to opt in or out of doubling-up on a future contribution. The excuse they gave was NOT actually what happened. They were banking on nobody actually knowing what the IRS regulations were for correcting this error. They lied about how it was missed, they lied about looking into how to fix properly, and they screwed many employees out of a contribution, and match (since a lot of them didn't have the means to double up later on down the road). Unethical and I would imagine that it's also illegal. They administer benefits like this for clients, and they can't even get their own right?!?! I worked on about 10 different client accounts. Not a single one of them was happy. Even though I gave everything I could, and I'm a good client relationship manager, the system was never correct, was never timely, etc. I'm a very hard worker, and have been in the industry for many, many years. But, the pace at which they expect you to perform is absolutely, and completely UNACCEPTABLE. Please don't fall for their smoke and mirror story about "Creative Chaos", and "Fun, Fast Paced", and "Work-Life Balance"! It's total BS. No matter what you do and how much you do, they will expect more. Knowing that I had to keep my job for the pay, I had to continue to give more and more, and they just kept taking. Never once even thanking me. Nearly tore my marriage apart along with my relationship with my kids. Easy to say, "Leave work at work, and just do what you can while you are there, blah, blah, blah". Truth is they don't care about your outside life whatsoever. They will burn through you, and then move on to the next person. Yes, there are people that can make it there. But, 95% of people don't...nor should anybody be expected to. The employee turn-over they had, about the time I left, was almost 35%! Doesn't that speak for itself?!?! Only match up to 3% on your 401(k). And...get this...they are an employee benefits administration company, and they don't even offer vision insurance to their employees! WTF?!?! I saw many people come and go while I was there. People that were wonderful employees somewhere else, and for whatever reason they ended up at Businessolver. They were just pushed too far and couldn't take it. If only you could see inside a true employee's workday before you start, then you would understand all these bad reviews. I wish everybody was required to read this site before signing with a company. If so, I think they wouldn't be in business any longer. The positive reviews you will read on this site I believe were written by current executive leadership. I think somebody else on this site mentions that as well. I can tell. They use verbiage and themes that seems only they would know and use. It's embarrassing really for them. Hello...They are just trying to put lipstick on a pig! Story about how little the executive team cares about anybody there and how irresponsible they are... I personally know somebody (top-end exec probably being considered for a VP role) that Businessolver sought out (he didn't proactively apply). An interview was set up. He showed up, and was told that Rae Shannahan (VP and wife of CEO) was busy and would be right there for the interview. He was taken to a small room and left there to wait. 45 minutes later, the recruiter showed up and said that Rae was still busy, and they took him out of the room and sat him among one of the teams. He sat there for another 15 minutes with nobody ever coming to talk to him. They finally let him know that Rae wasn't able to meet with him and they walked with him out the door. Yeah...he told them to take him off their list. They missed out on an incredible person potentially working for them. How can an employer be so disfunctional?!?! I honestly think they keep feeding food and alcohol to their employees as incentive to stay longer. Kind of what most of my team thought too. If you can make ends meet elsewhere, waiting tables, or whatever, until you find something else, I would advise you to hold off! This company needs to get out of town. I feel they are evil, and don't belong anywhere.
