Pros
BIS is a great place to work. The environment really makes you feel like you are part of a team/family. You get to do work that you can put pride into, and you can get a sense of accomplishment and appreciation afterwards. At BIS you are not just a number, and the work you do is not mundane. BIS is a perfect fit if you are looking for a long-term career. I don’t think you will like BIS if you are just looking to use it as a stepping stone to somewhere else. BIS hires some talented, experienced individuals, but they also hire new graduates and less experienced individuals. They seem to try to recognize potential talent even if the person’s resume doesn’t reflect it yet, and they give people the opportunity to prove themselves and excel at a new career. From what I have seen, if you learn, grow, work hard, and you produce positive results, it will be recognized and rewarded.
Cons
The starting salary is probably lower than what most expect, but let’s be honest, most people these days just expect more in general. You may not start off making 50-100K at BIS, but I can tell you that if you do good work and prove yourself, that you will earn a respectable salary. Management can always improve. This can probably be said about most companies. At BIS, management seems to really strive to improve, they seem to listen to their employees, and they really put in a noticeable effort to make BIS a better company. BIS is not perfect, and I cannot speak for the past, but since I have been employed there is not a year that has gone by that BIS hasn’t improved.
