Head office is NOT a place to advance your career - Anonymous Bulk Barn Foods Employee Review

Pros

If you are looking for consistent hours that NEVER EVER change (including for important medical appointments or family considerations) then this is the place for you. If you're looking to struggle and receive absolutely NO executive support what so ever - this place is your heaven! They paid well, but in the end the stress and lack of support wasn't worth the paycheque.

Cons

No executive support. Are NOT interested in training you or advance your skills what so ever. Want you to come in and work your butt off and never say boo. Don't give you the tools or steps to succeed. Fire people with NO warning or giving you a chance to learn or grow. They don't care about the people AT ALL. They care about their bottom line.

Pros

-Small stores and few employees per shift, ability to make good relationships. -Great first job for young people/people still in school -Minimal stress when you have a good team i.e. don't have to worry about slackers making head office upset -25% employee discount (corporate stores)

Cons

At least at the corporate store level, good work is not recognized. Employee reviews mean nothing and you will make basically the same as someone who does the bare minimum/someone who has been with the company for a much shorter time than you. This has been especially noticeable since Ontario made the jump to $14 minimum wage a few years ago
